Product Details:

"The Visit to Andre" by Howard Pyle depicts a dramatic moment related to Major John Andre, the British officer who was captured and executed as a spy during the American Revolutionary War. John Andre was hanged on October 2, 1780, after being caught with secret documents about West Point’s defenses, which he obtained from Benedict Arnold. Despite being a British officer, he was respected even by his captors for his dignity and conduct. André was known to have met with American officers before his execution, including General Alexander Hamilton, who admired his courage and manners.
