Product Details:

Washington’s First Interview with Mrs. Custis by Alonzo Chappel depicts the first meeting between George Washington and Martha Custis (later Martha Washington). This event is believed to have taken place in 1758, when Washington, then a rising young officer in the Virginia militia, met the wealthy widow Martha Dandridge Custis at her plantation. Their courtship quickly progressed, leading to their marriage in 1759.
