Product Details:

Washington on His Deathbed by Junius Brutus Stearns is a painting that captures the solemn and emotional moment of George Washington's final hours at Mount Vernon on December 14, 1799. On December 12, 1799, Washington rode on horseback in cold, wet weather, later developing a severe illness, believed to be acute epiglottitis or quinsy. Despite medical treatments of the time, including bloodletting, his condition worsened. Washington passed away on December 14, 1799, at the age of 67. His last recorded words were "Tis well."
