The Penny Image of Abraham Lincoln by William Willard is a painting that depicts the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. This portrait became particularly famous because it served as a model for the image of Lincoln that appears on the Lincoln penny, first minted in 1909 to commemorate the centennial of Lincoln's birth. The likeness was based on a sculpture by Victor David Brenner, which in turn was inspired by Willard's painting.
