Product Details:

The Marriage of Washington to Martha Custis by Junius Brutus Stearns depicts the wedding of George Washington and Martha Dandridge Custis on January 6, 1759, in New Kent County, Virginia. The wedding took place at the White House plantation, Martha’s estate, in a lavish yet intimate ceremony. At the time, Washington was a 27-year-old rising military officer and planter, while Martha was a wealthy widow with two children. The marriage significantly enhanced Washington’s social and financial status, giving him control over vast plantations and wealth.
