Product Details:

The Evacuation of Charleston by the British, December 14, 1782 by Howard Pyle depicts a significant moment in the American Revolutionary War—the British withdrawal from Charleston, South Carolina, marking the last major evacuation of British forces from the Southern theater. After occupying Charleston since 1780, the British, under General Alexander Leslie, evacuated on December 14, 1782. This marked one of the final British withdrawals before the war formally ended with the Treaty of Paris (1783). American forces, led by General Nathanael Greene, took possession of the city, welcomed by cheering crowds.
