Product Details:

The Birth of Old Glory by Henry Hintermeister beautifully captures a moment that George Washington, while reviewing a regiment of New Jersey militia, has been given a resolution from Congress. General Washington, with his officers, announces "Our flag of stars and stripes was authorized by the Continental Congress, June 14, 1777. 'Resolved that the flag be of 13 stripes alternate red and white - the union 13 stars, white on a blue field representing a new constellation among nations.'" Washington  was encamped with his Army at Middlebrook, New Jersey at the time. Officers from left to right: Alexander Hamilton, Brig. General James Varnum, General Charles Scott, General Samuel Holden Parsons in the brown uniform, Colonel R. R. Meade, Brig. General Anthony Wayne.
