Product Details:
Reception of the Isere in New York Bay by Edward Percy Moran captures a historic moment in New York's history. Moran pain illustrates the arrival of the French ship Isere in New York Bay on June 20, 1885. The Isere was carrying the disassembled Statue of Liberty, which was a gift from the people of France to the United States. The Statue of Liberty, designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, was shipped in 350 individual pieces packed within 214 wooden crates. This event marked the beginning of the process to assemble and erect the statue on Bedloe's Island (now Liberty Island).
