Product Details:
Christopher Gadsden (1724-1805) was a prominent American patriot, soldier, and politician during the American Revolution. He is best known for designing the Gadsden flag, which features a coiled rattlesnake and the motto "Don't Tread on Me." This flag became a symbol of American independence and resistance to British rule. Gadsden was an influential figure in South Carolina politics, serving as a delegate to the First and Second Continental Congresses and playing a crucial role in the early revolutionary movement. He was also a brigadier general in the Continental Army. Gadsden's fervent advocacy for colonial rights and his contributions to the revolutionary cause have cemented his legacy as a key figure in America's fight for independence.
