Product Details:
This is an exclusive pairing of Peter Frederick Rothermel’s Pickett’s Charge with Gettysburg battlefield map (including troop movements) for each day of the three-day battle.
Peter Frederick Rothermel’s Pickett’s Charge is one of the most iconic and ambitious artistic depictions of the American Civil War—specifically, the climactic Confederate assault on the third day of the Battle of Gettysburg (July 3, 1863). Pickett’s Charge was a massive Confederate assault on the center of the Union line at Cemetery Ridge. It ended disastrously for the South, marking a turning point in the war. Rothermel’s painting became a symbol of Union triumph and Confederate bravery, often used in post-war memory and reconciliation efforts.
The Battle of Gettysburg marked the turning point of the Civil War. With more than 50,000 estimated casualties, the three-day engagement was the bloodiest single battle of the conflict.
