Product Details:

Nathanael Greene by Alonzo Chappel is a lesser known painting of the great Revolutionary War general. Nathanael Greene (1742–1786) was a major general in the Continental Army, known for his strategic brilliance and leadership, particularly in the Southern campaign against British forces. Nathanael Greene’s Southern Campaign was one of the most brilliant military operations of the American Revolutionary War. After being appointed commander of the Southern Department of the Continental Army in 1780, Greene faced a dire situation: the British had overrun Georgia and South Carolina, and American forces were in disarray. However, through a strategy of mobility, attrition, and strategic retreats, Greene turned the tide against the British.
