Product Details:
Gunpowder Brought to Boston from Fort Ticonderoga by Howard Pyle depicts a pivotal moment in the Winter of 1775–1776, during the Siege of Boston in the American Revolution. In May 1775, American forces led by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold seized the British fort in New York, securing valuable cannons, gunpowder, and supplies. In December 1775–January 1776, Colonel Henry Knox undertook an extraordinary mission to transport 60 tons of artillery and gunpowder from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston, traveling over 300 miles through snow and ice. This artillery and gun powder allowed George Washington and the Continental Army to fortify Dorchester Heights, ultimately forcing the British to evacuate Boston in March 1776.
