Franklin's Return to Philadelphia by Jean Leon Gerome Ferris depicts Benjamin Franklin returning to Philadelphia after his time abroad, especially his time in France, where he served as a diplomat for the American colonies during the Revolutionary War. Franklin is warmly received by the citizens of Philadelphia, highlighting his status as a respected statesman, inventor, and philosopher. Ferris captures a sense of admiration and excitement among the people, who celebrate Franklin's achievements and contributions to the new nation.
