Product Details:

Decatur Boarding the Tripolitan Gunboan by Dennis Malone Carter captures a pivotal moment during the First Barbary War (1801–1805). It depicts Stephen Decatur, a young U.S. naval officer, leading a daring boarding attack against a Tripolitan gunboat during the Battle of Tripoli Harbor (1804). Stephen Decatur became a national hero for his fearless leadership in the Barbary Wars. The battle was part of America’s first major conflict against piracy in the Mediterranean. Decatur personally avenged the killing of his brother, James Decatur, in this confrontation.
