Product Details:
The portrait of Daniel Boone by Chester Harding, painted in 1820, is one of the most iconic images of the American frontiersman. Chester Harding, an itinerant portrait artist, painted Boone when the legendary figure was 85 years old and living in Missouri. Daniel Boone (1734–1820) was an American frontiersman and explorer, renowned for his exploration and settlement of Kentucky, which was then beyond the western boundaries of the Thirteen Colonies. Boone's most famous achievement was his role in the establishment of Boonesborough, one of the first American settlements west of the Appalachians, where he defended the community against Native American attacks during the American Revolutionary War. Although he faced personal hardships, including financial difficulties and legal disputes over land claims, Boone remained a symbol of the pioneering spirit.
