Product Details:
Capture of Fort Ticonderoga by Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys by Frederick Coffay Yohn depicts the capture of Fort Ticonderoga that occurred on May 10, 1775, early in the American Revolutionary War. Ethan Allen, along with his group known as the Green Mountain Boys, along with Benedict Arnold, surprised and captured the British-held fort without firing a shot. This victory was significant because it provided the Continental Army with much-needed cannons and munitions. Yohn's painting captures the moment of the surprise attack where Allen and his men confront the British soldiers. The capture was not only a morale booster for the American forces but also had strategic importance. The artillery taken from Ticonderoga was later used in the Siege of Boston.
