Product Details:

"Burgoyne's Surrender" by Frederick Coffay Yohn depicts a significant moment during the American Revolutionary War: the surrender of British General John Burgoyne to American General Horatio Gates on October 17, 1777, following the decisive American victory at the Battle of Saratoga. Yohn portrays the formal ceremony of surrender at Saratoga, with General Burgoyne presenting his sword to General Gates. Burgoyne is often shown with a composed yet somber expression, symbolizing his acknowledgment of defeat. Gates, standing tall and dignified, represents the triumph of the American cause. The surrender at Saratoga marked a turning point in the Revolutionary War. It was the first major defeat of a British army and demonstrated the ability of the American forces to achieve a significant victory.
