Product Details:

This is a unique combination of Howard Pyle's painting The Battle of Nashville which vividly captures the intense and decisive clash that occurred in December 1864 during the American Civil War, and a extremely detailed battlefield map of the two day Civil War Battle. Fought on December 15-16, 1864, the Battle of Nashville was a critical Union victory in the American Civil War. It pitted Major General George H. Thomas's Union Army of the Cumberland against General John Bell Hood's Confederate Army of Tennessee. The legend of the map provide a detailed chronology of the crucial events of each day's battles. The Battle of Nashville was one of the most comprehensive victories for the Union in the Civil War, leading to the collapse of Confederate resistance in the Western Theater. The defeat severely diminished the Confederate war effort and contributed to the eventual Union victory in the Civil War.
