Product Details:
Battle of Lake George by Frederick Coffay Yohn depicts a key engagement in the French and Indian War, fought between British colonial forces and their Mohawk allies, led by William Johnson and Hendrick Theyanoguin, and French forces with their Native American allies, under Jean-Armand Dieskau. The battle unfolded in three phases: A French and Native ambush on a British column, killing many, including Hendrick Theyanoguin. The British retreated to their camp near Lake George, repelling a French assault with makeshift fortifications and artillery. The British victory halted the French advance, earning Johnson a baronetcy, and led to the construction of Fort William Henry, later infamous for its 1757 siege. The artwork captures the main battle phase, emphasizing the British defense with cannon fire and musket volleys.
