Product Details:

Battle of Churubusco, Capture of the Tête de Pont by Alonzo Chappel depicts a crucial engagement during the Battle of Churubusco, which occurred on August 20, 1847, during the Mexican-American War. The battle was part of General Winfield Scott’s campaign during the U.S. invasion of Mexico City. Fought near the Churubusco River, where Mexican forces, including the San Patricio Battalion (Irish-American soldiers fighting for Mexico), fiercely defended the Tête de Pont (bridgehead fortifications). Despite strong resistance, American forces overwhelmed the Mexican defenders, capturing the fortifications and clearing the way toward Mexico City.
