Product Details:

Battle of Bunker's Hill by Alonzo Chappel is a detailed and dramatic depiction of one of the first major battles of the American Revolutionary War, fought on June 17, 1775. The scene captures the intense fighting between the British Redcoats and the American colonial militia. Colonial soldiers are shown fiercely defending their earthworks, firing their muskets at the approaching British troops. Many American and British soldiers lie wounded or dead on the ground, emphasizing the battle’s brutality. The Battle of Bunker Hill took place in Charlestown, Massachusetts, though much of the fighting actually occurred on Breed’s Hill. It was an early battle of the war, proving that American militia could stand up to British forces. The British, under General William Howe, eventually captured the hill, but at a heavy cost—they suffered over 1,000 casualties, compared to about 450 for the Americans.
