Product Details:
Attack at Chantilly – Death of General Stevens by Alonzo Chappel depicts the Battle of Chantilly (September 1, 1862) during the American Civil War. This battle occurred immediately after the Second Battle of Bull Run, as Union forces attempted to halt the Confederate advance under Stonewall Jackson. General Stevens was mortally wounded while leading his men in an attack against Jackson’s forces. His death was a significant loss for the Union, and shortly after, General Philip Kearny was also killed in the battle. Though the Union attack was fierce, the battle ended inconclusively, allowing the Confederates to maintain momentum.
