Product Details:

Arnold Tells His Wife of the Discovery of His Treason by Howard Pyle depicts a dramatic moment from the life of Benedict Arnold, one of the most infamous figures in American history for his act of treason during the Revolutionary War. Benedict Arnold, initially a celebrated hero of the American Revolution due to his military prowess, secretly plotted to surrender the fort at West Point to the British. His plan was discovered in September 1780 when Major John André, a British intelligence officer, was captured carrying incriminating documents, which included plans of West Point in Arnold's handwriting. Pyle's painting captures the moment Arnold informs his wife, Peggy Shippen, of the discovery of his treasonous plot.
