A View of the Bombardment of Fort McHenry by J. Bower is an engraving that visually depicts the intense and historic defense of Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. The image captures the British naval assault on the fort, which took place on the night of September 13-14, 1814. This event became a pivotal moment, not only because of the American resistance but also because it inspired Francis Scott Key to write "The Star-Spangled Banner."
