Camp of the Seventh Regiment Near Frederick, Maryland by Sanford Robinson Gifford portrays a military encampment of the Seventh Regiment, during the American Civil War, near Frederick, Maryland. Gifford served with the Seventh Regiment of the New York State National Guard, and this artwork reflects his personal connection to the landscape and the soldiers he served with. The regiment was stationed in Maryland in 1863.
